All accommodations are newly built and designed to make use of the constant easterly breeze and shaded to keep you cool…..
The cabins and the house were built at treetop level with the mangroves. This gives the feeling you are living in a treehouse…
We are located on the quiet east end of Roatan where you can relax, wind down and enjoy the local island lifestyle in comfort.
Our cabins are a short 10-minute boat ride through the mangrove channels to our property. See the Video

Beautiful, for your boat...and you.
I reserved the dock at Calabash Cabins Roatan beginning in December. When I arrived, I found a very sturdy, spacious dock in a safe location, overseen by the owners Ed and Julie, two very knowledgeable and experienced sailors. I decided to rent the one bedroom cottage to live in while doing repairs and securing the boat. In retrospect, had I known what it is like, I would have gone to Calabash Bight just to spend a week in that cottage. It is up to date, comfortable, well equipped, in an absolutely beautiful location. Every one of the many large windows you look out reveals something of beauty to gaze at and the breezes are delightful. The huge front porch with that large swinging settee is a treasure, a place to take morning coffee as the sun rises over the ridge and lights up the bight, or to take a cocktail as dusk gathers over the bight, or a place to just stretch out and snooze at peace with the world. Ed and Julie are genuinely friendly, down to earth, interesting and talented, and absolutely respectful of guests’ privacy. Highest recommendations as a place to leave your boat, take a vacation, or enjoy a retreat.
Great Time !!!
Drink your morning coffee among the quiet mangroves while hummingbirds wiz through the branches. I had a great time staying here. I couldn’t think of a better place for a sailor to spend a couple weeks while doing boat work. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need along with the workshop and wealth of knowledge from the hosts at your disposal. Thank you Ed and Julie for being such generous hosts!
Perfect
After staying in multiple locations over 9 years I had the distinct pleasure of staying here for 3 months, I can not express how welcome I felt from the time I stepped on the dock till the time I had to leave. The exceptional hosts Ed and Julie made me feel so comfortable it was as if I was at an old freinds home.
The studio apt was perfect, clean and efficient and the grounds were a piece of art. The 2 dogs were alway great companions for tea in the morning along with mr Ed for a short chat before he continued his work for the day. I have found the perfect retreat at Calahash Cabins and if anyone has a chance to visit I highly recommend you do. Thanks abain Ed and Julie and I hope to see you in the fall.
Back again
This was my second time staying at Calabash Cabins and it was just as good as the first! We were there for about 10 days this time. They are constantly striving to make their accommodations better and better with recent additions like a pizza oven, starlink internet, and communal laundry area. Everything is lowkey and easy. They make no effort to exploit you as a traveler. Just very fair, courteous and respectful of your needs and will help you however they can. Plus, if you give Ed some rum, he’ll regale you with stories of pirates 🙂 I’ll be back again!
BTW, tell Christopher that Mikey says hello and that he better have that pizza dough recipe perfected before next time. Save some for us!
Highly Recommend
I was there for 3 weeks, one of those along with a friend. We felt like family. Ed and Julie are great hosts, great people, and are super dependable. They will pick you up from Oakridge in their panga and make sure you have what you need for as long as you stay with them. I have been coming to Calabash/Oakridge for 4 years now and Calabash Cabins is an easy favorite.
It is also an ideal place if you happen to be coming by boat. They usually have spare dock space alongside their sailboat, and they have a full workshop they will graciously let you use.

A Home Away From Home
What a beautiful place and what a time we had! The property and cabins are bright, cheery, well-designed, well-equipped, and so comfortable and full of warmth. They really feel like a home away from home. Julie and Ed were exceptional hosts – attentive, knowledgeable, accommodating, interesting, and so much fun. If you like an off-the-beaten-path kind of experience, this is it! Julie has done an incredible job with the extensive gardens. And Ed loves to be challenged in a game of Dominos! Will definitely be back soon.

Great Time !!!
Arrived at the Calabash Cabins Feb 23 and found the cabins very comfortable and super clean.
The use of the barge allowed us to tour the bight and mangroves, and other bights.
We are leaving on March 9th for home and would definitely recommend the cabins to anyone.
A wonderful place to relax
We stayed in the beautiful, spacious cabin from Feb 6-19, 2023. Julie and Ed ensured we were picked up at the airport and able to stop at the local grocery to buy food for our stay. The cabin is spacious, well appointed, and has an amazing covered deck that overlooks Calibash Bight with a peak of the ocean. The hill behind the cottage has walking paths outlined with a variety of plants and a couple of lookouts where you can sit. The site is water access but the local amenities, restaurants, and bars are easily accessed by boat or water taxi. There are also two kayaks that can be used to access a local beach across the Bight. Expats and islanders are all very friendly and helpful. Julie and Ed go above and beyond to help their guests have a great experience and we are looking forward to our next stay at the cabin.
A special place, wonderful open and inviting hosts.
Wow! We stayed aboard our 49′ sailing sloop dockside with our hosts, Ed and Julie, for 2 weeks. It was a great experience all around. Our hosts also provided a wonderful cabin overlooking the water for our kids and granddaughter. It made our vacation time together very enjoyable. The property is clean, bright, open and airy. As live aboard cruisers the “water access only” cabins presented no limitations. We used our tender as a taxi to get around. Our hosts also arranged for ground and water transport for our kids. If your looking for a great place away from the trappings of civilization, look no further!
Beautiful !!
My husband and I were there from 3/29-4/3/22. Ed and Julie were so hospitable, explaining how their adventure came about, all they have done to transform their land to a piece of paradise. Such a peaceful, beautiful, relaxing respite from the rat race! Thanks so much!!
