Do I need to rent a car?
You should probably rent a car for at least a couple of days to get down island (West End/West Bay/French Harbor) for shopping and sightseeing. Most places between Helene and Jonesville are boat-accessible, so Water taxis are the way to go. We rent out our car for $30/day.
Can I get a housekeeper?
When you arrive, the cabin will be all clean with new linens and towels. Depending on the length of your stay, you may want a housekeeper to come and freshen things up. Just give us a couple of days’ notice and we can schedule someone to come in and freshen the place up for you for an additional fee.
Can I get a cook/chef?
Yes. Give us a couple of days’ notice and we can set up a cook for you for an additional fee.
What about groceries?
You can stop at the grocery store on the way from the airport. It is a fully modern supermarket stocked with produce and North American style foods. Expect to pay North American prices here – and think full price. There are no ‘sales’ like there are in North America.
In Oakridge, there are several local shops carrying beer, rum, a local pharmacy, produce and all the food basics.
Your accommodations have a fully functional kitchen with, utensils, dishes and cookware.
What if I get sick or get hurt?
There is a local doctor in Oakridge. For something more serious there are several good clinics and a top-notch Hospital. We advise Travel Insurance to take the worry out of a medical emergency.
Are you wheelchair accessible? Are there stairs to climb?
We are not set up for wheelchairs. Getting here required the ability to get in and out of a boat – (a large and stable panga with a bimini top for shade), and there is a maximum of 12 steps to climb.
